General Elektriks is the brainchild of Hervé ‘RV' Salters. A French national and a keen vintage keyboard player, Salters was laying down keyboards for his bands and for various artists like Femi Kuti and -M- before he moved to the US in 1999. He started working on funk collages using his favorite keyboards, a computer and a mic and hooked up with the Quannum crew (Blackalicious, DJ Shadow etc.). Salters joined Blackalicious in the studio to work on The Craft and toured with them for over a year. Concurrently, he formed San Francisco trio Honeycut with singer Bart Davenport and drummer Tony Sevener (The Day I Turned To Glass, 2006).

RV completed the first General Elektriks album, Cliquety Kliqk in 2006. Hailed by URB as ‘Ennio Morricone for the 21st century', the album was a far out mix of vintage funk, hip hop beats, noir riffs, cinematic arrangements, pop melodies and digital twinkle.

His new album Good city for dreamers was almost entirely made by Salters alone in his garage, disrespects genre barriers and unveils a world of its own, a place where raw funk can sound dark and where keyboards can caress you one moment then bite you the next. The genre lines are even blurrier, morphed together as they are by RV's vivid keyboard playing, warm singing and generous compositions - impressionistic strings and horns are featured on several songs, arrangements courtesy of the Frenchman.  The city in Salters' head seems to have leaked directly onto the cd, a beautiful mess of new psychedelia where gritty soul, oldschool pop, hip hop, indie rock and jazz make sparkles as they collide.
